I haven’t been listening to much music this week, except Jars of Clay’s “Good Monsters” during my workout on Tuesday, and a couple jazz CDs while I worked yesterday afternoon. Instead, I’ve been listening to Jim Gaffigan.

Usually I post here on Thursdays about music I’m listening to, whether a mini review of a CD or some playlists Pandora or Rhapsody picked out for me. I thought today I’d share what podcasts I like to listen to, considering I split my drive time and gym time between music and podcasts.

I searched through my old posts and couldn’t believe I hadn’t written about Adele. I was expecting to rest on an earlier prognostication regarding her success with 21, her fantastic sophomore release. But alas, I didn’t write anything here. Perhaps it was on Facebook. “21″ was the best-selling album in 2011. Whatever that means.

In my hour yesterday I did some light reading for a financial class I’m preparing to teach. I cued up Rhapsody’s radio channel: Corner Cafe. Coffee mug within reach and tunes in my ears, it feels like a coffee house, except quieter and I get to wear my pajamas. … Sheryl Crow’s “All I Wanna Do”

The River, a radio station in Toledo, starts spinning Christmas records in November. It seems to get earlier and earlier every year. Eventually you’ll be able dial it up and hear “Sleigh Ride” in September. What I like about Pandora and Rhapsody is their genre-based holiday channels, whereas the River would play the same songs by the same artists over and over.

Short post today to make you aware of a great Christmas project I’ve been listening to — and worshiping with. I’d heard of Phil Wickham before but not any of his music.

I don’t usually write about TV shows, since half the year my viewing centers on baseball. But this is fall and there are some good new shows we’re watching and some not so good old ones. Cindy and I tend to like shows that get canceled, like last year’s “Outsourced,” and we usually shun the top raters. Here’s what Cindy and I have been watching this fall.
