The primary contributor, I’m Matt Owens and have been married 13+ years to Cindy. We have two beautiful daughters (13 and 11) and a boy, the spitting image of his dad on a 32-year delay. Here I write about God, life, family, and music. I’m a worship pastor, a city boy hiding out in small town in southwest Ohio, far from our home in Arizona.
Sometimes I write off schedule, but here’s how it usually goes.
Monday
This & That — I write about what I observe in life. Thoughts come to me as I’m going about my regular day, and I try to jot them down. What I take note of in life may be current or from the past. It might be serious or funny. Or seriously funny. We miss out on so much if we’re not paying attention. Blogging regularly in this vein forces me to pay attention. Thus, I won’t miss out.
Tuesday
Worship, Sunday Setlists – I’ve definitely benefited from Worship Community’s Sunday Setlists—as has my church, since I’ve put to use what other people have done successfully. It’s good for me to review how Sunday went, to reflect on what does and doesn’t work.
Wednesday
Closer Look (Scripture) – I’ve learned over the years that God speaks in many ways, the first and primary way is through Scripture. But he also speaks to us in life, and SWYW is a collection of what I’ve been seeing and hearing. Many of my posts are about God and how we relate to him and the world. In addition, Closer Look posts are where I explore portions of Scripture. These are really just a result of my own study and reflections.
Thursday
Playlists, Music – I share here about what I’m listening to: new and old music, music for worship, pop/rock, jazz, classical. I write some short reviews and make recommendations. Often I simply share what iTunes or Pandora has shuffled for me.
Friday
Books and Other Art, This & That, Guest Posts – I signed up a year or so ago with two publishing houses to read and review books on my blog. Here I post reviews of these and other books, including fiction and nonfiction. From time to time I’ll share about other art, like movies and TV. Or this might be another This & That or Guest Post day.
